Bio

Gwen Athene Tarbox is an associate professor in the Department of English at Western Michigan University, where she teaches children’s and young adult literature, gender studies, and comics studies. In addition to her book, The Clubwomen’s Daughters: Collectivist Impulses in Progressive-era Girls’ Fiction, she has published articles on the clear line comics of Hergé and Gene Luen Yang, on the Harry Potter phenomenon, on the history of American children’s fiction, and on youth participatory writing communities. In Spring 2017, her co-edited text (with Dr. Michelle Ann Abate),Graphic Novels for Children and Young Adults: A Critical Collection, will be published by the University Press of Mississippi.
