Deepa Ganesh





Deepa Ganesh works as the Deputy Editor for The Hindu, an Indian daily newspaper, in Bangalore. She is interested in literature, music and translations. “A Life in Three Octaves” is her work on the doyenne of Hindustani music Gangubai Hangal. She won the Sahitya Academy award for her translation of U.R. Ananthamurthy’s stories. She has translated the memoirs of Gubbi Veeranna and Saraswati Bai Rajwade. She writes a column called Inner Voice on film music at the Hindu. She has served as the editor of the Sahitya Academy journal Aniketana since 2014. Her translation of Gubbi Veeranna’s memoir — the harbinger of company drama in Karnataka —  Art is Life, was released . She has translated nearly 25 books for Tulika, a children’s publication.
